Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026. This policy explains how JobConfident ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account we collect your email address, name, and a hashed password. We never store plaintext passwords.
Interview Data
When you use JobConfident, we store your uploaded resumes, job descriptions, interview transcripts, evaluation results, and session metadata. This data is used solely to provide the service and improve your experience.
Audio & Video Data
If you use voice or avatar features, audio is processed in real-time by our speech-to-text provider and is not stored after transcription. Video avatar sessions are streamed in real-time and are not recorded.
Usage Data
We collect anonymized usage analytics (pages visited, feature usage, session counts) to improve the product. We use PostHog for analytics, which can be blocked by standard ad blockers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the interview simulation service
- To generate AI-powered evaluations and feedback
- To send transactional emails (password resets, session summaries)
- To improve our AI models and product experience (using aggregated, anonymized data only)
- To process payments via Stripe
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract — Processing necessary to provide the service you signed up for (account data, interview data, payments).
- Legitimate Interest — Anonymized analytics to improve the product, and error monitoring to maintain service reliability.
- Consent — Where required, such as for optional marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal Obligation — Where we are required to retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.
4. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties
- We do not use your interview transcripts to train AI models
- We do not share your data with employers or recruiters
- We do not display advertising
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in encrypted databases with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow industry-standard security practices, including regular access reviews and the principle of least privilege for internal systems. For details on our security practices, contact security@jobconfident.com.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate JobConfident. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their service:
- Stripe — Payment processing. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI / Anthropic — AI language models for interview simulation. Your prompts are processed per their data policies and are not used for model training via API. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy and Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- PostHog — Product analytics (anonymized). See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
- Sentry — Error monitoring (no PII captured). See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
7. International Data Transfers
Our third-party service providers may process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent mechanisms, to protect your data in accordance with GDPR requirements.
8. Your Rights
Under GDPR (EEA Residents)
- Access — Request a copy of all data we hold about you
- Rectify — Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete — Request deletion of all your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export — Download your data in a machine-readable format (data portability)
- Restrict — Limit how we process your data
- Object — Object to processing based on legitimate interest
Under CCPA (California Residents)
- Know — Request what personal information we collect and how it is used
- Delete — Request deletion of your personal information
- Opt-Out — We do not sell personal information, so this right is satisfied by default
- Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights
You can exercise these rights via Settings → Privacy in the app, or by emailing privacy@jobconfident.com. We respond within 30 days.
9. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. When we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under CCPA. Our analytics can be blocked by standard ad blockers or browser privacy settings without affecting core functionality.
10. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics may be retained indefinitely.
11. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by GDPR. We will also notify relevant supervisory authorities where legally required.
12. Children's Privacy
JobConfident is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@jobconfident.com.
13. Cookies
We use a single session cookie for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies. Third-party analytics (PostHog) may set cookies which can be blocked without affecting core functionality.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
